I’m Laura and obviously the person behind the scenes creating and building GEWL with some of the best people I know. I’m a self-taught photographer and sandwich enthusiast from Chicago, currently living in Southern California with my family. I started this journey of selling sandwiches in April 2020.

If you were to know one thing about me, I’m totally obsessed with food, especially sandwiches. I always dreamed one day I would have my own Food Truck but never in my wildest dreams did I ever think it would be my reality. While I don’t have a food truck yet, the dream of creating my own concept and feeding people is very much my reality.

I, like most, lost their full time career due to COVID and found myself out of work, with zero income and a family to provide for, so I took a chance. In April of 2020, during the peak of the pandemic, I decided to start selling sandwiches on social media with zero intention of it being where it is today. Within the first few months we went from feeding a few local friends and families to catering events inside the Wiltern with Live Nation.

Everything from GEWL is homegrown with the love of music behind each item. We truly feel that good food deserves a soundtrack and we can’t wait to see what the future will hold for us.

To me GEWL is more than just sandwiches. It's a testament to the hustle - the drive to get back up when you get knocked down. It’s been a wild ride of ups and downs, of shortages and successes but at our core GEWL is here because of you - our fans and followers. I’m grateful to have found my voice and now, a year later, I know we’ve only just begun to make our mark.
